Jonathan Riley
“Gift of God” “A small stream”
Birthday and Astrology
Born Jan. 18, 1957 – Capricorn
Practical, career minded, sometimes stubborn
“Capricorn combines the benefits of a grounded stability with a sense
of initiative and ambition to work its way steadily toward the top. The
trouble is, in the process this Sign may neglect other important life pursuits
such as family, relaxation, fun”
Jon is headstrong in his desire to be an Architect. He often times forgets
to live in the moment, or that something simple can have such beauty.
He feels it must be detailed and massive in order to appeal to him. Family
life is not something that has appealed to him in his younger years. He
grew up as the only child of working parents. Both parents paid him attention;
however, it was not in the quite moments of life. His birthdays and holidays
where filled with the normal celebration that you would expect from a
commercialized family. But those moments when he needed guidance and suggestions
or affirmation when he was a child were filled with silence. Jon learned
around the age of 12 that he would have to get affirmation for his peers
at school, this later translated to those he worked with. Family provided
a means of stability for him, but not for enjoyment. He was more friends
with his parents, and his father played the role of mentor/lecturer more
often then not.
Aries and Capricorn
When Aries and Capricorn come together in a love match, they must work
hard to maintain their mutual energy. Their approaches can seem almost
opposite to one another -- Aries is all about acting without bothering
to consider where the action is directed or what it will attain, while
Capricorn is all about judging whether (or how much) it will benefit them
before they take action. Aries moves fast and, to Capricorn, at least,
seems to risk it all. Capricorn abhors unnecessary risk. They move at
a slower pace, working inexhaustibly toward well-defined goals (usually
related to career or other forms of public advancement). Both partners
always get where they're going, only in different ways -- and usually
where they're going is totally different, too!
Capricorn is generally rather quiet and unassuming while Aries is much
louder and more flashy. They're both very stubborn and think their way
is best, so in order to work together, they have to agree to disagree.
Their philosophies are very different: Aries looks for the shortcut while
Capricorn wants to follow the rules, assuming they're a tried-and-true
path to success. How does this manifest itself in a romantic relationship?
Aries is all about impetuous, passionate pursuit of the one they want,
without stopping to think whether the one they've chosen is really the
right one for them. Capricorn, on the other hand, likes to analyze how
much a potential love partner will be able to help them advance in life,
and will use that as the basis of their decision of whether or not to
pursue the relationship. If these two can meet and get together, however,
they can teach one another things they wouldn't learn on their own.
Aries is ruled by the Planet Mars (Passion) and Capricorn is ruled by
the Planet Saturn (Karma). These Planets often work against one another,
just as Aries and Capricorn have to struggle to find common ground. These
two can definitely help one another, however, especially on a project:
Saturn has strong powers of perseverance, but Mars has the energy and
drive it takes to get things done. These two Signs might make a better
duo in the workplace than in the bedroom! Both partners tend to be resolute
and neither gives up easily; if their energies are not channeled in positive
ways, together these Planets may inflict cruelty, even violence on one
another, or cause one another to repress their emotions. Aries must take
care not to work against Capricorn, who, in turn, must try not to dampen
Aries's fiery spirit.
When he meets Karen, her easy going passionate outlook on life offsets
his practical view points. She appears care-free and he loves that she
can point out all the little details in everyday life that can make it
great. He feels her inexperience in life is “cute”. He hopes
to be able to take her “go getter” attitude and pull it around
to apply in tried and true ways. He often times gives into her wants and
desires just to let her have her way, even though he thinks they might
be pointless or end up in a futile effort.
Karen Riley
“Pure” “A small stream”
Born April 12, 1958 – Aries
Leader, starter, real go getter.
Karen always wants to enjoy the moment at hand, she will always take
a bad situation and turn it into a good idea, thought, or moment.
Her childhood was filled with love and joy. Both parents encouraged her
to pursue her goals, but to have fun along the way. She can always look
at the “big picture” and get a sense of pleasure from it.
It takes a great deal to really bring her down. People look at her and
just smile because she appears to glow from the inside.
She meets Jonathan and really likes his passion for detail. He seems
to understand complex problems and thoughts quickly. It is refreshing
to get a view-point founded on reality. She sometimes gets annoyed at
him trying to change her and her outlook.
She doesn’t have a career goal in mind for herself. She would rather
bounce from one thing to another. Her view on kids opens up after getting
married to Jonathan. She wants nothing more than to have a family.
Lisa Riley
“Consecrated of God” “A small stream”
Jonathan and Karen’s Daughter
Lisa is a bright child who later becomes a gypsy type due to a lack of
supervision by her father. She wants to run off and see the world and
experience the wonders that life can give her while at the same time yearning
for her father’s affection.
Abby Riley
“God is joy” “A small stream”
Lisa’s daughter
Abby is a simple girl who watches the drama around her through eyes that
try to soak it all in. She talks very little to her grandfather, but is
known to laugh around her mother. Due to Lisa’s illness, she is
forced at a young age to mature in a few ways that others do not, while
not being able to develop emotions such as wonder and awe that other children
are allowed to. It is Abby that finally gives Jonathan his insight within
the final moments of the film.
Richard Riley
“Power Ruler” “A small stream”
Richard is a loud spoken man to his friends and colleagues, while quietly
dismissive to his family. His jokes are often at the expense of others,
and his stories to his co-workers usually come across as stupid or crass.
Early in his life, his mother used to abuse him. His father was a heavy
drinker who usually spent time at the bar instead of home. Because of
this, he is unable to open up to his son Jonathan, and usually expects
him to stay quiet and out of sight. He is a large looking man, who works
at a factory in the design/engineering team. His goal is to head up the
department and he often throws parties to entertain people from the office
to kiss up to upper management.
Maye Riley
“n/a” “A small stream”
Jonathan’s MotherMaye Riley is a soft spoken yet strong woman. Her
heart is always on her sleeve, especially around her son Jonathan. Her
simple yet open upbringing often has internal conflicts with her suburban
lifestyle she leads as an adult. She often wants to defend her son to
her husband, but at the last moment stands down as it is not her place.
Sarah Ticher
“Princess” “n/a”
Jonathan and Lisa’s next door neighbor who moves in after the death
of Karen.
She becomes a mother figure for Lisa and is attracted to Jonathan. Sarah
used to be a performer in Las Vegas and often tells Lisa about the shows,
the lights, and fame, and the glitter. She takes a very strong and protective
outlook concerning Lisa and often finds herself being the person to dish
out advice to Lisa. She wants very much to be closer to the family, however
she feels uncomfortable approaching Jonathan… she knows so much
about him through Lisa, but nothing directly from him.
